Let’s Hear it for the Boys! {Link-up}

In a world where it’s way too easy to see all of the negative about our boys, we want to help you intentionally look for something to brag on…

  • Maybe your boy made a good grade this week
  • Maybe he served someone spontaneously
  • Maybe he learned a significant life lesson
  • Maybe he did something hilarious!
  • Maybe he looked super cool in his costume/dress up clothes!
  • Maybe you took a fabulous photo of him you just want to show off.

Tell us all about it on Thursdays in the MOB Society’s new link-up…

Let’s Hear it For the Boys!

(#LetsHearItForTheBoys on Twitter)

There’s only two real rules for this link-up…

Brag on your boys! Tell the world how they make you proud! Take time each week to write down or take pictures of the good things they do and remind yourself of how God is working in their hearts.

And…leave a link back here to the MOB Society so other boy moms can brag on their boys!

We think it might change your whole perspective.

Link-up! (Or if you don’t blog, tell us about your amazing boy in the comments!)

Comments

  1. I’m praying he’ll continue to develop a heart for prayer!

  2. Hello! I am praying for my son to develop words because he is not talking much. Although he rarely says anything clearly, this week he said a full sentence “I don’t want you to go” when I was leaving for work the other day– I can brag that he said a sentence. He is 3 and has a speech eval coming up later this month. I love my little boy and pray he will become a couragious man that knows God’s love. :)

  3. Kristina Best says:

For my oldest son (8) I am praying for Calmness. He gets angry at his brother and us his parents when he doesn’t get his way. For my youngest is understanding.

  4. Kristina Best says:

My sons have been extra caring to our dogs this week. The dogs got fixed and my oldest is always checking on them and the youngest loves telling them stories.

  5. This year I am praying for my son to be firmly rooted in his identity in Christ. He will be transitioning to middle school soon and I want him to be able to walk through that time with the peace of Christ!

  6. I am praying that my son would develop self- control.

  7. I am praying that my son will grow to learn to love the Lord. Right now all the concepts of a loving God, heaven, and God taking care of him scare him. He is nearing 3, so I am praying that a year of maturity will open his eyes to the awesomeness of God replacing his current fear.

  8. I’m praying for self-control for my oldest son. He’s so impulsive lately and that coupled with SPD is just driving us all a little nutty. For my little guy I’m praying salvation over my little guy. And generally obedience for them both!
LaToya {Christian Momma}´s last [type] ..I really love to dance!

  9. Carrie Gould says:

I am praying that my boys will learn how to respond when they are upset with each other. Right now they push, hit, even bite sometimes (they are 2 and 4)

  10. Right now I am praying for my two-year-old to develop some anger management skills. The poor little guy gets frustrated because he can’t do what he wants or because we don’t understand him. His response is to hit himself on the head or to bite his own hands. I ask God to help him move past this scary and frustrating phase.

As for something that I am proud of, my four-year-old just got his first “Bible” sticker at preschool. He has been praying for this because he wanted to show that he knew his prayers and things about the Bible. Yesterday was his first (and I say first because we all know that he will not be stopped now) and he was so proud!

  11. Carrie Gould says:

And to brag a bit…lol…My 2 year old learned how to put his pants on all by himself and my 4 year old learned how to help my 2 yo put on his socks!! <3

  12. My prayer is that my boys would continue to soften their hearts toward Jesus, toward each other, and toward us, their parents.

I also wanted to say that anyone who wins the Prayer Warriors book will LOVE it! Great stuff. I especially love Brooke’s prayer @ the end of the book. I’d love to dig into “I’m Outnumbered!” (cuz I am!) HA!
    Faye´s last [type] ..Savoring Innocence

  13. I’m praying for my oldest to be more open and communicate what he feels better with me, for my middle boy to be more loving and learn to share better, and for my youngest to not throw so many tantrums.

  14. And to brag, my oldest is so sweet and understaning of my mistakes! My middle boy is super affectionate to me, and my youngest is so adventurous and brave!

  15. For my oldest son, we pray for self-control.

  16. My oldest son took it upon himself to straighten up the fridge the other day while I was grocery shopping… so sweet!
Blessed5x´s last [type] ..The Family in the Mirror

  17. My prayer is that my boys would learn from example from their very awesome Daddy to treat there wives with love and respect. And to be Godly leaders in the home as God instructs in the Bible.. I hope I win.. :) :) Thank you…

  18. My prayer is that the friendship that my boys are building right now flourishes and forms that deep bond that they will have forever.
    Brooklyn´s last [type] ..{ creative wednesday }

  19. My son had a prayer request for me early in the school year- he’s a first grader and was just introduced to the concept of STUDENT OF THE MONTH- where one student from each grade is honored with a certificate for a virtue each month- like respectful, politeness etc. So that’s being chosen among 100 kids. While I prayed for him, I had the sinking feeling that the likelihood of him being chosen was so small, but I kept at it since he requested. Last Friday he came home with a certificate saying he had been chosen as the Student of the month for being polite to everyone. What an extraordinary honor..what a mighty God we serve who listens and knows our hearts and minds. I pray in 2012, that my son and I rely more on God for our needs and wants, and less on ourselves.

  20. My oldest son (5 1/2) is so sweet to baby brother (10 mos). He has so much patience with him. I love to watch the two of them together.

  21. I’m praying that my oldest son (almost 2) continues to love praying. He often reminds us when we forget at meals and always re-prays for every extra helping he gets. I’m also praying that he learns not to bite and hit soon!! Also praying that my youngest (almost 4 months) survives his often too overly helpful and loving big brother.

  22. I am praying for Ben to be more discerning.

  23. I’m praying for my 5 year old son that he can continue learning more about the Bible and grow in his love for God. I’m praying for my 2 year old son to continue learning his letters and grow in his independence.

  24. Bragging on my boys today…My 5 year old (Drew)’s teacher told me two days ago that he is the best in his preschool class at Phonics and that he is really ready to start reading. So we have started working on that at night and he’s doing really well and loves it! My 2 year old (Davis) is such a good eater. He will try anything and is never scared to be adventurous. I love that about his spirit!
Martha Poe´s last [type] ..We’re still here!

  25. I am praying for my son to continue to grow in his faith and to understand his gifts, to respect them and use them to serve the Lord.

I linked up, hope to see you over at Mystic-Mom!

Bright blessings, always and in all ways!
Shanyn´s last [type] ..Does his own stunts

  26. I’m praying for focus for my older son. He has autism so focus is hard, but I know it’s not impossible. The last few days have been hard to get his attention and have him stand still. We’re focusing more on getting him to keep eye contact, so it’s frustrating because I notice more how he lacks it. :(

  27. I have an almost three year old son who is exceptionally bright and my prayer for him is that I can keep him engaged and interested in doing what is right. He gets into a lot of trouble around the house because his mind is buzzing! :) And for my almost one year old boy I pray that I will be able to pay enough attention to him (the baby of four) to shepherd his sweet little heart effectively!
sarah stepec´s last [type] ..Menu plan – January 23

  28. And to brag, my little guy just learned to say “da da” the other day and I can hear him practicing in his crib on the monitor – so sweet!

  29. I am praying for my sons to be able to understand what it means to honor another above themselves, what it means to be humble and to seek God’s kingdom above all else.
Emily´s last [type] ..Pure in heart

  30. Oh, where do I begin with my prayers for my boys. My one prayer is that my oldest son would have patience, self control, and discernment. (And quickly get out of the lovely age 3 stage). Thanks!

  31. I am praying that God will develop a passion in my sons heart for Christ.

  33. Holly Willis says:

I am praying for my oldest son to develop wisdom, the next to grow the fruit of self control, and the third to also grow the fruit of self control.

  34. we are praying that all 3 of our boys will grow in knowledge of Jesus Christ and that even at a young age we will see fruit in them!

  35. i posted on how our house is about to become a diaper free one! our 2 year old is almost potty trained!!!

  36. Last night I was introduced to a four-armed Mr. Potatohead: “one for a fork, one for a spoon, one for a knife, and one to scratch if he gets an itch.”. That’s my spirited four-year-old. If he didn’t make me laugh, I probably would cry.

I am praying that he learns to deal with his anger and frustration more constructively. And that his one-year-old brother continues to grow strong and healthy so that he can grow into the place of being his brother’s best friend. He is trying now, but he is still only half the older one’s size.

  37. Oh… my boy (one of three). It has been a big week. His rookie (homeschool) group won the regional tournament for the Lego Robotic League and was shocked to find himself in the Young Achievers section of the paper: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/youngachievers/

Last June, he entered a book review contest (and I think was the only child in the mix) for Andrew Peterson’s Wingfeather Saga. The original post is here:
    http://greenertrees.blogspot.com/2011/06/will-proclaims-latest-wingfeather.html

And this week, an update was posted regarding the status of his prize:
    http://wingfeathersaga.com/?p=957

Both of these “kuddos” for Will came at the end of 3 very difficult “pre-teen” weeks…
    http://greenertrees.blogspot.com/2012/02/you-are-cordially-invited.html

What an amazing way the Lord assured me that He is the one who created, loves, and will provide for our children – far more than we ever can. Will is a kind, gentle, unassuming boy who just likes to “do his thing” – both of these accomplishments were natural outflows of his following his interests, which are a little off the traditional “beaten path.” I’m grateful for the reminder that each child has been created with great purpose in life.

Sorry for all of the links, but it’s been a big week for my sweet son, and I needed them all to tell the story :)

  38. Katherine Nguyen says:

I am praying my boys (all my children really) learn to do EVERYTHING for the glory of God. Not for me or their dad, but for God’s Glory!

  39. Katherine Nguyen says:

Today my boys watched their little brother while I taught a 4-H class. Now, as I type, they are in the living room folding two baskets of laundry and singing along to Steve Green’s Hide em in your heart. I love that they are willing to help with the laundry and love hearing their little (and not so little, oldest son is 11) voices singing Bible verses.

  40. My prayer for my three boys (13, 18, & 20) is that they will discover God’s gifts and learn how to use them to serve Him. In a competitive world with so many options, I pray they will love and exceedingly great joy in a life of purpose.

  41. I am a proud mom. All three of the boys are musically inclined like their daddy. All three are in their bands at school. What I am especially proud of this week is how they are welcome to play in each other’s school bands. The College student helps out the High School Marching, Concert and Jazz Bands; The Middle Schooler helps out the High School Jazz Band; and the High Schooler helps out both the college and Middle school bands! They all play for our worship team and they play with daddy in the community band during the summer.

I guess what I love most is when they spend their money to purchase worship music and sing upstairs when no one asks them to.

  42. I am praying for my boys to become big brother’s this year ;) We are in the process of adopting a little girl. I am also praying that they would be a light to those around them, not when they get older, but even now at 5 and 2 God can use them to transform lives.

  43. I’m praying for salvation of my youngest son – not quite old enough yet to understand – and also for complete healing spirit, emotions, physically from damage via a birth mother who did drugs and neglect after birth. His life held much pain prior to our getting him out of foster care. Complete healing is God’s perfect will for him- I ‘m sure of it!

  44. For my older son, I’m praying for organizational skills and for the ability to be diligent and use his God-given intelligence in school. I feel like he just hasn’t decided to “do” school yet, and it’s hurting him badly this year.
Lisa M.´s last [type] ..Preparing the fields for rain

  45. Rebecca B. says:

OK, a brag and a prayer!
TJ, my melodramatic and recently angry and violent 4 year old earned a “sticker” today at school. He didn’t fight and he had his “listening ears” on! He told me that when his rival wanted to fight and wrestle, he went to stand next to the teacher and “didn’t even hit him!” This is a serious miracle!

So I pray for his heart to continue to soften, the anger to melt away, and for self-discipline with his friends and brothers. I want the old, sweet, funny TJ back! Please Lord!

  46. And since I didn’t link up a blog post today, I’ll just brag on my older son. My boys are nearly 7 years apart, and I worried that he wouldn’t take well to being a big brother. He has proven me wrong a multitude of times! He’s a wonderful big brother, and his little brother loves him so much, it just makes me smile.
Lisa M.´s last [type] ..Preparing the fields for rain

  47. I am praying my sons would grow in their namesakes this year. For Elijah, to know and choose each day that the LORD is the one true God. For Ezra, that he will allow the LORD to be his strength and his might all his days.

My boys are such gifts. Today my 2 yr old was pretending to read to me from Daddy’s bible, and my 4 mo old is full of smiles and love for his mama!

  48. I’m praying for them to be respectful of others, especially of women. I love those historical “romances” where the cowboy types always take care of the women.

  49. My son is 6 and we’ve had him and his older sister 3 1/2 years now. We’re just proud of how he lives with his visual impairment and carries on like nothing is different, even though he knows he’s different. He also knows that it is important to be different and different is good!

  50. I am praying and hoping for my 2 year old to develop a sharing and giving spirit. The constant ‘Mine!’ and ‘Ty-Ty’s’ is getting a little old and it is very hard to teach when your child is an only-child. He is really well behaved so maybe I am expecting too much but I look forward to sharing in our future.
